ROGERIAN  PSYCHOTHERAPY

Person-centered therapy, also known as Rogerian therapy, originated in the work of the American psychologist, Carl Rogers, who believed that everyone is different and, therefore, everyone’s view of his or her own world, and ability to manage it, should be trusted. Rogers believed that all of us have the power to find the best solutions for ourselves and make appropriate changes in our lives. Person-centred therapy was a movement away from the therapist’s traditional role — as an expert and leader — toward a process that allows clients to use their own understanding of their experiences as a platform for healing. The success of person-centered therapy relies on three conditions:

1) Unconditional positive regard, which means therapists must be empathetic and non-judgmental to convey their feelings of understanding, trust, and confidence that encourage their clients to make their own decisions and choices.

2) Empathetic understanding, which means therapists completely understand and accept their clients’ thoughts and feelings.

3) Congruence, which means therapists carry no air of authority or professional superiority but, instead, present a true and accessible self that clients can see is honest and transparent.

FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTURE

One of the major systems of thought within traditional chinese Acupuncture is Classical Five Element Acupuncture. Based on the five elements of nature: fire, earth, metal, water and wood, 5 Element Acupuncture has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as a method of diagnosis and treatment for over two thousand years. It is believed the five elements represent our controlling and creative energies. Ideally, all five of these elements should be in balance.

“In theory, we develop symptoms/diseases when these elements become unbalanced. Treatment involves transferring energy from one element to another creating balance again. Classical 5 Element Acupuncture can be a very effective system to use in conjunction with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Determining a patient’s constitutional factor can be helpful with treatment by understanding why certain symptoms affect you and how to create better balance for a healthier future.”

How Five Element Acupuncture Works:

The 5 element Acupuncturist begins assessing the patient’s condition by evaluating sense organs, tissue, color, taste and emotion. This will enable the acupuncturist to determine the particular element an individual represents and to formulate a personalized treatment plan.

As far as nature allows, this ancient Five element system aids the mind, body and soul in healing themselves. Rather than merely sweeping symptoms and emotional disturbances under the carpet, 5 Element Acupuncture deals with the underlying causes of a disease in body or mind aiming to prevent recurrence in the future. Five Element acupuncture deals with your condition by restoring the overall balance of your energy. In this way, it may also be used as a preventive measure.

The world around us is governed by the same universal force that governs our mind, body and soul. The same cycles of change manifested in the seasons of the year influence us. The ways in which the elements and their associated components interact is explained by the cycles within the Five Element theory.

The five elements work closely together and  have their own set of characteristics. Following is a chart illustrating these characteristics.

Who can Benefit from 5 Element Acupuncture:

In my practice, 5 Element Acupuncture has been shown to be most helpful in treating chronic conditions both emotionally and physically. But it can prove beneficial for almost everyone, especially those suffering with anxiety, chronic stress, depression, anger, emotional imbalances, TMJ, Hormone imbalance, Digestive problems, Headaches, IBS through to your serious health conditions such as blood pressure problems, thyroid issues, Heart problems, cancer and immune system difficulties.

One of the most complex systems in traditional Chinese medicine, 5 Element Acupuncture can take years, if not decades, to fully understand.

ENERGY WORK

A healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

KINAESTHETIC PROCESS

This a simple technique to allow you to know what's true for you in any given moment.  You learn quickly to allow and release old patterns and pains, and experience release, completion and a new spontaneity and freedom.

From the beginning you see what strategies for survival and management you needed and how you no longer need them.

You change without trying and you make decisions without inner conflict.  You trust yourself.

Body-based emotional release is an outcome along with spontaneity, healing, self love and more freedom to make choices.

TRAUMA BASED CBT

This is an evidence-based psychotherapy or counselling that aims at addressing the needs of children and adolescents with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other difficulties related to traumatic life events.
