ONE ON ONE, GROUP AND FAMILY THERAPY SESSIONS

2 1/2 HOUR SESSION OR TWO DAY COURSE

In our one on one or group therapeutic work our horses are all at liberty which means they are in a free environment, unrestrained, with the absence of tack.  A bond is created through a series of companionship interactions that are naturally enjoyable to the horse and opens us up as human beings to a different depth of self.  This bond is the key to a magical relationship with any horse.  Through these interactions with the horse we are able to explore ourselves and what emotions they bring up within us.

LEADERSHIP WITH HORSES

TWO DAY COURSE

A two day experiential learning experience that provides a variety of leadership and team building activities.  Learning and working with horses helps build and strengthen; leadership skills, self awareness, emotional intelligence, problem solving and conflict resolution, ability to set and honour boundaries and non verbal communication.  A truly magical experience when you open your heart and mind to allow the horse to guide you to a new understanding of the world you have to cope with as a leader.  Leadership is earned through demonstrating authenticity and truthfulness and not through positional power.  Our well trained horses teach participants that goals and leadership can only be achieved after trust has been established and we can recognise each others strengths.

Studies show that only 15 percent of a person’s success is determined by job knowledge and technical skills, and 85 percent is determined by an individual’s attitude and ability to relate to other people.

TEAM BUILDING WORKSHOP

TWO DAY COURSE

Participants are given real obstacles involving a rather large living, breathing, reacting creature! to succeed in their common goal team members must learn to collaborate.  Only by recognizing each others strengths and developing trust can they explore which different strategies will help them succeed.  Much of our ability to effectively convey a message is nonverbal.  A horses sensitivity to group dynamics, behavior and emotion makes them integral team members in our communication building exercises.  Participants will gain valuable insight as to how their own communication is perceived.  The experiences in the arena allow for metaphors to emerge which link up to the real life i.e. work and personal space.  The horses might become the current challenges or clients and respond to the teams dynamic and the individuals behaviours – including thoughts, intentions and feelings.  Through the horse/team relationship the participants are given an opportunity to explore, adjust and gain awareness that can result in desired outcomes and goals.  It is a powerful method for developing strengths and recognizing and addressing weaknesses.

The facilitators observe how the horses respond to the participants, and how they interact with one another.  Upon completion of each activity, all participants return to a central location and a discussion is facilitated on what the participants saw, heard, felt and learned through the experience and how they can apply this new information to their professional and team development goals.

YOUTH AND CHILD EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME

2 1/2 HOUR SESSION OR TWO DAY COURSE

As the horse and client embark on their various activities (catch and halter a horse, moving with the horse and getting the horse to move through obstacle courses or into a particular space in the arena), the horses start to non-judgmentally reflect the client’s state of being. The clients are encouraged to take notice of these horse behaviours. Once the reflective nature of this connection is made, the client is able to access a visual representation of his/her reality and is then able to explore his/her perception of the world. Clients are empowered to choose how to manage these perceptions. Through working with horses, clients are able to develop and promote self-esteem, confidence, group cohesion, empathy, leadership, appropriate boundaries, trust and assertiveness.  This programme also includes Rogerian Group work.
